Cookie Policy

Last Updated: January 29, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Field Literacy Lab (FLL) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies across our Public Portal (the “Front Door”) and our Learning Management System (the “Rear Door”).

1. What are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. They help us remember your preferences, keep you logged into the Digital Archive, and—most importantly—log the Notional Hours required for your NCrF credits.

2. How We Use Cookies across the "Two Doors"
A. Public Information Portal (fieldliteracy.in Website)

On our public site, we use cookies to understand how visitors interact with our pedagogy.

  • Analytics Cookies: We use these to see which “Streams” (e.g., Green, Blue, or Orange) are attracting the most interest. This helps us allocate resources for future field sites.
  • Preference Cookies: To remember your language settings or if you have already dismissed a notification.
B. The LMS & Digital Archive

On our restricted learning platform, cookies are functional and mandatory for academic integrity.

  • Authentication Cookies: These keep you securely logged into the “Curator’s Vault.” Without these, you would have to log in every time you opened a new archival film.
  • Time-on-Task Tracking: These cookies allow our Learning Record Store (LRS) to accurately pulse your engagement. This is the “digital timestamp” that proves you have completed the required hours for credit transfer.
  • Player State Cookies: These remember where you paused a National Award-winning film so you can resume exactly where you left off.

4. Consent and Control

In alignment with the DPDPA (India):

  • Initial Visit: You will see a “Consent Banner” on your first visit to the Front Door. You can choose to “Accept All,” “Reject Non-Essential,” or “Select” specific categories.
  • LMS Entry: By logging into the Rear Door, you acknowledge the use of Functional Cookies. These are essential for the “Contractual Necessity” of providing you with verifiable academic credits.
  • Browser Settings: You can block cookies via your browser settings, but please note that this will break the tracking of your Notional Hours, and your fieldwork may not be eligible for credit transfer.
5. Third-Party Cookies

We limit third-party cookies to ensure a “Clean Room” environment for students.

  • We do not allow advertising networks (like AdSense) on our LMS.
  • We may use Google Analytics on the Front Door, but user IPs are anonymized to protect your privacy.
6. Updates to this Policy

We may update this policy as we add new Field Immersion streams. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
